22nd National Book Fair Opens in Lucknow with ‘Vision 2047’ Theme

The 22nd National Book Fair formally commenced today at Balrampur Garden with the inauguration of the 11-day fair by Governor Anandiben Patel. The fair, extending until September 14, is themed "Vision 2047: Developed India, Developed State."

While she was in Madras, the Governor visited different stalls and bought books on different subjects such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Swami Vivekananda. Publishers also gifted her some books, including a special one-inch-sized Gita.

With open entry and working from 11 AM to 9 PM on all seven days of the week, the fair boasts more than 120 stalls of more than 50 national and local publishers. People can explore thousands of books in Hindi, English, and other local languages, including literature, educational writings, and children's books. A minimum of a 10% discount is offered on all sales.

Apart from book sales, the fair will also feature a range of literary and cultural activities such as author sessions, kavi sammelan, and book launches. There will be a special "Children's Corner" that will feature storytelling and competitions to engage young readers. The fair is a yearly event that seeks to promote a reading culture and offer a platform for publishers and writers.
